'Racist Pig': CNN's Navarro Resorts to Yelling, Name-Calling in Bizarre Political Rant
Maybe it’s just the pressure of the most stressful and uncertain midterms in recent memory, but anti-Trump figures are sinking to new lows in their public discourse directed at the president and his adminsitration.
Name calling has reached a fevered pitch on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time.”
Host Chris Cuomo moderated a discussion Sunday between CNN’s Republican strategist Ana Navarro and panelist Steve Cortes, former Trump campaign operative and spokesman for the advocacy group Hispanic 100,
With 90 percent of any news coverage of President Donald Trump portraying him in a negative light, Navarro was doing her best to make sure those numbers don’t slip before the election.
In this exchange, Cortes did his best to hold his ground against Navarro, who shouted him down nearly every time he tried to speak.
Check it out here. It’s long, but the sparks start flying near the end. Navarro’s “racist pig” line comes about the 9:35 mark.
Navarro took particular exception to this discussion on the president’s “hard-line” stance on immigration, and she let everyone know including, Steve Cortes.
Cuomo said Trump is “playing a different game,” suggesting that campaigning on illegal immigration is ginning up the base to motivate them to vote in the midterm elections.
And to that Cortes replied: “You come from the presupposition that he’s racist.”
Cuomo replied in the negative to Cortez and then Navarro lit up the airwaves with a slew of racist accusations against the president.
“Well, I think he’s racist. He called Mexicans criminals and rapists. He called El Salvador and Haiti sh-tholes,” Navarro shouted over the commentary.
“Sign me up in the category of people who think he’s racist,” she added. “He has said so many racist things. He’s a racist pig!”
While Navarro dominated the discussion, Cortes got in a very substantive point:
“If he’s a racist, he’s the worst one ever because minorities are thriving under his leadership,” he said.
Need we mention that if anyone had called former President Barack Obama these kinds of names, the liberal left would have self-combusted, immediately?
Perhaps Hillary Clinton is still driving the Democratic Party agenda and its direction for civility.
In an October interview with CNN’s Christiane Amonpour, Clinton said: “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about. That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again. But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”
Clearly, the message here to Democrats is “say anything necessary to destroy political debate with your Republican opposition.”
It’s apparent Navaro has no intention of bringing civility into her speech about Trump. She won’t be brining much logic in either.
