Dems Drive Down Black Wages by Using 14th Amendment To Bring in Illegals: Coulter
Author and political commentator Ann Coulter completely destroyed the left’s narrative on anchor babies and the 14th Amendment.
The renewed discussion about birthright citizenship began after President Donald Trump suggested putting an end to birthright citizenship in an interview with Axios published on Tuesday.
“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits. It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous, and it has to end,” Trump said.
Of course, Democrats turned Trump’s comments into a controversy by defending birthright citizenship and claiming the 14th Amendment cannot be interpreted differently.
Coulter disrupted the left’s narrative by pointing out that African-Americans are harmed by the left’s use of the 14 Amendment, which was originally meant to turn former slaves into U.S. citizens.

In Coulter’s column, published by Breitbart, she explained that the 14th Amendment was never meant to turn anchor babies into U.S. citizens.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly stated that the “main object” of the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment was to make former slaves into “citizens of the United States and of the state in which they reside.”
Coulter also pointed out that the amendment didn’t make Native Americans citizens.
In Elk v. Wilkins, the Supreme Court held that a Native American, John Elk, was not a citizen despite being born on American soil.
Native Americans weren’t granted citizenship until the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.
Coulter makes a good case for the argument that the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment does not guarantee anchor babies a right to citizenship.
As Coulter pointed out, the 14th Amendment was meant to protect African Americans, but the left’s interpretation actually harms African-Americans.
“It requires breathtaking audacity to use the Civil War amendments to bring in cheap foreign labor, which drives down the wages of African-Americans — the very people the amendments were written to protect!” Coulter wrote.
Black civil rights leaders, like U.S. Civil Rights Commission member Peter Kirsanow, have already explained how illegal immigration negatively impacts African-Americans.
“When you have an oversupply of labor, the price of labor is going to be depressed,” Kirsanow told Fox News last year.
“We’re talking about, at the very low end, hundreds of thousands of blacks losing jobs, probably if you do the math, up to 1.2 million blacks losing jobs,” he added.
African-Americans wages are being driven down by the left’s interpretation of the 14th Amendment, but Democrats only care about gaining votes and pushing their agenda.
