DACA Man Sentenced to 35 Years After Little Girl Found Covered in Feces, Bound in Closet

Share

Francisco Javier-Rios Covarrubias, the monster who abused a 3-year-old child in Arizona was finally sentenced to serve 35 years in prison on Tuesday.

The horrifying story was first reported in early 2016 when police found a girl bound inside a trash bag in the closet of the abuser.

The child’s arms and legs were bound and she had duct-tape covering her mouth, according to The Arizona Republic.

She was also covered in bruises and feces.

The child was taken to the Mesa Family Advocacy Center, where she was examined and then hospitalized.

“The level of neglect was so harsh that the girl could not stand on her own,” said Mesa Police Chief John Meza.

Do you think DACA was a bad idea?

The girl’s mother, Mayra Solis, would often leave her daughter with Covarrubias for days at a time, according to KNXV-TV. She would also be left alone for hours while Covarrubias was at work.

Covarrubias was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, abuse and sex-trafficking charges. The mother was arrested on multiple counts of child abuse.

Over two years later, the perpetrator finally received his prison sentence.

“Judge Warren Granville sentenced Fransico Javier-Rios Covarrubias to 35 years in prison, followed by lifetime probation, for two counts of kidnapping and three counts of attempted child abuse,” according to a tweet by Maricopa County Superior Court.

One detail of the horrific story that has often been overlooked by the establishment media is the man’s immigration status.

In 2016, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley revealed that the Senate Judiciary Committee had evidence that the attacker was living in the United States under the DACA program.

“According to information received by the Committee, 30-yr-old Rios-Covarrubias was a recipient of deferred action under the President’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program,” Grassley wrote in a letter to the Department of Homeland Security.

DACA, of course, was President Barack Obama’s program that allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the United States well into adulthood as long as they were 15 years old or younger when they illegally crossed the border along with other small stipulations.

Many DACA recipients are fine people but the sad truth is that this crime wouldn’t have happened if Covarrubias wasn’t given a free pass to stay in the United States despite illegally crossing the border.

Covarrubias isn’t the only DACA recipient who has committed crimes in the United States.

Illegal immigrants in the DACA-protected age range, like Covarrubias, are over-represented in Arizona’s prisons.

“While undocumented immigrants from 15 to 35 years of age make up a little over two percent of the Arizona population, they make up almost 8% of the prison population. These immigrants also tend to commit more serious crimes,” according to a study by John R. Lott, the president of the Crime Prevention Research Center.

This young girl endured horrific, sickening abuse and proper immigration laws and border control could have prevented it.
