Hypocrites: #MeToo Dems Silent as Vice Chair Ellison Accused of Brutal Sex Assault

Share

For the past few years, first in light of allegations of sexual misconduct against candidate-turned-President Donald Trump, but certainly in the wake of the rise of the #MeToo movement, we have been told by the liberal media that women who allege sexual mistreatment must be taken at their word and believed.

Most definitely with respect to the women who level accusations against Trump during the 2016 campaign, but also against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and a host of other Republicans — and a few lesser-known Democrats or not-overtly-political figures on the left — the American people are excoriated for not unquestioningly accepting allegations put forward by women against powerful men.

Yet, that narrative suddenly gets quashed and silenced whenever allegations arise against a prominent Democrat politician, and the women who raise such allegations are promptly smeared and maligned by the liberal media for having the audacity to make claims of mistreatment against fine and upstanding liberal politicians.

Such appears to be the case with Democrat Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, who also serves as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee and is running to be Minnesota’s attorney general, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

Allegations of emotional and physical abuse arose over the weekend against Ellison, a prominent black and Islamic member of Congress, from a former girlfriend named Karan Monahan, more specifically from her son, who revealed the existence of the accusations in a social media post.

At least as of yet, the DNC has not issued any sort of official statement about the allegations or responded to requests for comment from the Free Beacon or any other outlet.

Meanwhile, some on the left have already begun to ever so subversively work toward undermining Monahan’s credibility and defend Ellison from the troublesome allegations, a stark difference from how accusers of politicians on the right are treated.

Monahan, a 44-year-old progressive who works as an organizer for the left-wing Sierra Club, has claimed that Ellison engaged in “insidious” abuse against her while the two were dating in recent years.

One such incident, alleged to have been caught on video, was said to involve Ellison screaming curses at Monahan while he dragged her off a bed by her feet.

Will you demand Ellison be held accountable if the allegations of abuse against him are proven true?

Monahan has stated she has no intentions of sharing that “embarrassing” video, but her account of what happened in Ellison’s apartment has been corroborated by three friends who were informed of the abuse contemporaneously.

“It is the most difficult form of abuse to articulate,” wrote Monahan in an email describing what she had suffered. “It is a slow insidious form of abuse. You don’t realize it is happening until it’s too late.”

As if the allegations of abuse from Monahan weren’t enough, another former girlfriend of Ellison — a woman named Amy Alexander — claimed in 2006 that she had been emotionally and physically abused by the congressman.

For his part, Ellison denies ever even dating Alexander and has also denied any sort of misconduct against Monahan. He further stated that there is no video of him abusing her, as the incident never occurred in the first place.

Were Ellison a white, Christian, Republican politician, he may very well have been already run out of Congress in the wake of these allegations. But since he is a black, Muslim, Democrat in a powerful leadership position, he has essentially been placed off-limits to criticism by the progressive left.

This is Keith Ellison’s #MeToo movement moment, and the Democrats should just own it and try to weather the storm as best they can. Otherwise, the utter hypocrisy of their avoiding the accusations while highlighting the same against ideological opponents is nothing short of disgustingly stunning.
