'Experts' Gave Hillary 90% Chance To Win, Claim America Is 10th Most Dangerous Place for Women
The United States is the third most dangerous country in the world in terms of sexual violence toward women, according to 548 women’s rights experts polled by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Women in the U.S. are more prone to falling victim to rape as a weapon of war, rape by a stranger and domestic rape than women in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mexico and Somalia, according to the experts.
The women’s rights experts also placed the United States as the sixth most dangerous country in the world for women in terms of non-sexual violence.
The findings might seem hard to believe for Americans who live in the real world.
This is the same country, after all, where polling “experts” estimated on Nov. 7, 2016, that Hillary Clinton had a 90 percent chance of winning the presidential election, according to a Reuters report at the time. That hardly seems like a country where deadly misogyny runs rampant.
Still, in the area of non-sexual violence, the experts placed the U.S. only one spot ahead of seventh-place Saudi Arabia, a country that prohibits women from making major decisions without male permission, wearing clothes that “show off their beauty” and interacting with men they’re not related to.
The #MeToo and Time’s Up campaigns against sexual harassment and violence are what put the U.S. in a category as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for women, according to the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
“People want to think income means you’re protected from misogyny, and sadly that’s not the case,” said Cindy Southworth of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, according to Thomson Reuters.
“We are going to look back and see this as a very powerful tipping point … We’re blowing the lid off and saying ‘#Metoo and Time’s Up’.”

While the U.S. didn’t place in the top 10 categories for women’s issues in health care, discrimination, cultural traditions and human trafficking, the country’s high ranking in the sexual violence and non-sexual violence categories placed it as the 10th most dangerous nation overall for women.
Coming in as the most dangerous country for women is India, where an average of 100 sexual assaults are reported to the police every day, according to CNN.
The survey involved 548 women’s rights experts spread across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific interviewed online, on the telephone and in person. The rankings and results were produced in collaboration with a team of data scientists at the Thomson Reuters Labs.
However, when asked for the detailed methodology used to come up with their findings, the Thomson Reuters Foundation provided The Daily Caller News Foundation with this document, which shows nothing more than the public-facing results of their survey.
The Thomson Reuters Foundation also told TheDCNF it is only releasing the top 10 rankings for each category surveyed, and refused to release the full country rankings generated by its survey.
