The Hat Hillary Regrets More Than 'MAGA'
This post was written in partnership with Patriot Depot, a sister company of The Western Journal.
The red “Make America Great Again” hat has been an icon of politics in the United States since the first formative days of the 2016 election. It was the wakeup call Americans wanted and needed after years of politicians selling our country short and losing at every turn.
But there is a phrase that likely did more to galvanize voters than “Make America Great Again” ever did. Hillary Clinton’s “deplorable” comment was reprehensible, and did more to separate the “elite” from everyday Americans than anything else in the 2016 election.
The quick-witted conservatives at Patriot Depot helped turn this insult into a badge of honor, something that can identify a patriotic and hard-working American citizen. If you don’t have one, you can pick it up here!
Thankfully, Clinton’s ambitions for the White House were crushed when the same deplorables she loved to insult stood together for America and elected Donald J. Trump.
So, what is a deplorable?
According to Hillary, the 75 million Americans who make up the “basket of deplorables” she referenced are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic and Islamaphobic. These are hardworking Americans — dads, mothers, first responders, military personnel, teachers and many others — that Hillary had no interest in meeting.
But we know better. We know that lifetime members of the Deplorables Club are easy to see. They’re the ones tirelessly working to help friends, family and their fellow Americans. Often times their jobs are thankless and underappreciated.
The paramedic who is working 18-hour ambulance shifts helping to save people regardless of race, religion, or creed? She’s a Deplorable.
The dad working two jobs to send his kids to a good college? He’s a Deplorable, too.
The soldier selflessly fighting to ensure our freedom? He’s also a Deplorable.
It’s no surprise this insult became a point of pride. Everyday Americans were sick and tired of being told how they and their loved ones posed a danger to our country, so they donned this hat and hit the polls.
Since then, the political and cultural landscape of America has shifted back to something close to normalcy thanks to the hard work of Deplorables all over the country.
Your lifetime membership in the Deplorables Club is simple. In fact, you’re probably already a member. Now all you need to do is grab your badge of pride: Get your “Deplorables Club — Lifetime Member” hat here!
