'Deplorable' Sign Warns Liberals to Arm Themselves if They Impeach Trump

Share

This free speech has liberals calling the law.

A rural highway in western Maryland boasts plenty of political signs in this primary campaign season, but one in particular had social media buzzing, television news crews filming, and some motorists even calling the sheriff’s department to complain about the content.

But there’s nothing illegal about it.

The sign basically dares Democrats to go ahead with the impeachment proceedings wackos like California’s Maxine Waters fantasize about if the party wins the midterm elections come November.

But it makes it clear there’s an enormous base of supporters of President Donald Trump who wouldn’t take kindly to an effort to remove the nation’s 45th president.

“Hey liberals,” it states. “Better get your guns if you try to impeach President Trump. From all of your deplorables in Calvert County.”

According to the Washington, D.C.-based WJLA, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has been “flooded” with calls about the billboard, but there isn’t a whole lot the authorities can do about something posted on private property.

Do you think this sign goes too far?

“There’s two groups that are offended,” sheriff’s Capt. David Payne told The Baltimore Sun. “We’ve received messages that say it’s offensive that it’s up (while others say) it’s offensive that he’s being pressured to take it down. We can’t win. We’re in the middle.”

Naturally, it’s the liberals who want the sign taken down. It offends them in its support for Trump, for starters, and reminds them that their own beliefs in taking away the Second Amendment rights of Americans to own firearms mean they don’t have any of their own.

It also happens to be an exercise in the First Amendment-guaranteed right to free speech.

“We contacted the state’s attorney and they said while it’s controversial, it’s probably not illegal,” Payne told CNN.

Naturally, the billboard has caused quite a buzz on social media. For some liberal Twitter users it was yet another sign of the incipient fascism and Nazism they see everywhere around Trump. (That they failed to see the actual fascism of Barack Obama’s “pen and phone” presidency and its continual attacks on religious freedom is a mystery for future historians to tangle with.)

According to the Baltimore Sun, the man who owns the billboard told sheriff’s officials he will be changing the message soon. It’s just one in a series of messages he’s been putting up on the sign.

“He changes the message every so often,” Payne told the newspaper. “He tends to have something controversial. This one (seems) to be the most controversial.”

Some motorists who actually drive by the sign and were interviewed by WJLA didn’t have a problem with it.

“I love the billboard,” a woman identified as Michelle Rinker told the station. “We’re conservative and there’s a lot of corruption that’s happened in this country and I don’t think it’s threatening.”

Neither does the local state attorney’s office.

In fact, the only people who do think it’s threatening are exactly the kind of people who are threatening to start some kind of impeachment proceedings against Trump, based on a crime that hasn’t been defined, using evidence that hasn’t been produced.

That’s their right, of course. As American citizens, they have free speech guaranteed in the Constitution.

It’s just the pro-Trump, pro-gun kind that has them calling the law.
