Trump Shows Pure Class, Steps Away From Podium Mid-Rally To Aid Suffering Audience Member
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was Saturday, which meant — for the second year in a row — President Trump decided to skip it for a rally of his own.
Liberals said he was showing pusillanimity, whereas conservatives like myself are perfectly happy with delegitimizing the self-congratulatory liberal prom that mainly seems to function as a full employment program for “Daily Show” cast members.
While Sarah Huckabee Sanders was holding down the fort for the administration, according to Fox News, President Trump was in Michigan holding his own shindig, touting the economy, progress with China and potential peace with North Korea.
However, the classiest moment of the night had nothing to do with the policies of the administration.
Instead, it had to do with the president calling for a doctor when an audience member at the rally had medical difficulties.
The president had been in the middle of talking about Immigration and Customs Enforcement dealing with gangs when it became clear that a member of the audience was distressed.
The president abruptly stopped. “A doctor please? Doctor. A doctor please.”
“Thank you, sir!” someone could be heard yelling off to the left of the stage.
“Take your time, take your time though,” Trump said. He then walked to the side of the podium, apparently to make sure that the rally attendee was getting treatment.
Video below:
This isn’t the first time that Trump has stopped one of his rallies to get medical attention to one of the attendees. And, as previously, he was extremely classy about it.
“Those are the people we love, those are great people, I’ll tell you,” the president said.
“And the doctors, thank you, doctor. Great job. Amazing! What people we have, what people we have.”
That moment didn’t get a whole lot of play on the overnight news shows, at least from what this caffeine junkie could tell. On the other hand, there wasn’t as much talk about the White House Correspondents’ Dinner or whatever minor “Daily Show” apparatchik MC’ed it.
So, I suppose Trump can claim that he accomplished his mission. And he managed to do it with class.
Perhaps most importantly, though, he showed his empathetic side — something the press claims he doesn’t have.
