CBP Nabs Unaccompanied Minor Illegally Crossing, Then Learns Chilling True ID
Liberals may vehemently oppose President Trump’s request for National Guard assistance along the southern border, but the reason for that extra enforcement may have just become more clear.
If you listen to immigration advocates, the “caravan” of refugees slowly making its way from Central America north through Mexico are all innocent victims … and America is heartless for being diligent or enforcing its own laws.
That narrative is starting to unravel. There are now indications that at least some of the unaccompanied minors are not so innocent after all. In fact, they may have connections to one of the most ruthless Hispanic gangs in the hemisphere.
According to Breitbart News, U.S. Border Patrol officials have discovered at least one member of the notorious MS-13 gang trying to blend in with the caravan and posing as a child in an attempt to gain entry into the United States.
“Agents assigned to the Yuma Station came upon a large group of 61 illegal immigrants who crossed the border Monday afternoon near the San Luis Port of Entry in southern Arizona,” Breitbart reported.
“The illegal border crossers consisted of a single Mexican national, 59 Guatemalans, and one Salvadoran who claimed to be an unaccompanied minor,” the outlet continued, citing the Yuma Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol.
Those 61 foreign nationals were all detained, since they did not have the appropriate visas to enter the United States. That’s when law enforcement officials made a chilling discovery.
“Border Patrol agents determined that one of the people claiming to be an unaccompanied minor was actually an adult. The man also confessed to being a member of MS-13 and said he was headed to Los Angeles,” Breitbart explained.
“Officials identified the Salvadoran as 18-year-old Herberth Geovani Argueta-Chavez,” the outlet continued.
Mara Salvatrucha, as the gang is more correctly called, is a multi-national criminal organization that began in the Latino slums of Los Angeles. It is comprised primarily of people from El Salvador, but now operates in nearly every Central American nation, as well as Mexico.
“They rob, extort and bully their way into neighborhoods and have gradually turned to transnational crimes such as human smuggling and drug trafficking,” summarized Insight Crime. “Their activities have helped make the Northern Triangle — Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras — the most violent place in the world that is not at war.”
One additional MS-13 member in L.A. may not seem like the end of the world … until it’s your family member who is assaulted or murdered.
Here’s the bigger problem: This illegal immigrant was stopped and confessed to being connected to the murderous gang, yet there are no doubt many more who are inside the caravan undetected … and the bulk of them haven’t reached the U.S. border yet.
“The group is part of the Viacrucis Migrante 2018, the caravan began on March 25,” Breitbart explained. “The caravan was expected to make its way to Tijuana in April where they would request refugee status.” Other groups are also headed for Texas.
How many MS-13 or other gang members have mingled into the caravan, using it as cover to enter the United States unchecked? We simply don’t know, but it seems certain that some would at least try.
In fact, posing as “unaccompanied minors” is a known tactic used by criminals to gain entry in America.
“As the gang has a large number of members who are illegal aliens from El Salvador, many of whom arrived as unaccompanied minors, strategic immigration enforcement must be a part of any successful plan to fight this brutal transnational criminal organization,” stated Jessica M. Vaughan, a former foreign service officer with the U.S. State Department.
The left has tried to portray the horde of illegal immigrants making its way to America’s border as solely a humanitarian crisis, but it is a security and crime issue as well. Every nation, from Mexico to Morocco, has the right to know who is coming in and to control its own borders … and that certainly goes for the United States.
