Shaq Melts Snowflakes with Blunt Statement on Guns, Armed Schools

Share

Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has never been a typical basketball player.

Besides his enormous size and playing key roles on championship teams in two cities, O’Neal has been known to have an affinity for law enforcement that stands out in a league where Black Lives Matter causes are more popular with many players than the cops who keep them safe in their multimillionaire lives.

In an interview this week about the gun control craze sweeping the country after last month’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida, O’Neal set himself apart again. And liberals don’t like it one bit.

“You’ve got a lot of people talking about getting these guns off the streets,” O’Neal said Tuesday on New York radio station WABC.

“The only problem with that is, there’s 15 million of them out there already on the streets. And then another problem is if you ban them, then you’re going to create an underground market, and the gun collectors, you know, it’s going to become more valuable.”

The answer, O’Neal said, isn’t more gun control, it’s more guns protecting kids.

“The government should give law enforcement more money,” he said. “Give more money, you recruit more people, and the guys that are not ready to go on the streets, you put them in front of the schools.

“You put them in front of the schools, you put them behind the schools, you put them inside the schools.”

That might seem like common sense – there are cops outside concerts, sporting events, and anywhere there are large gatherings. But the snowflakes of the American left, in their hyperpolitical response to Parkland, aren’t known for common sense.

And the social media meltdown was almost immediate.

Do we need more cops in schools?

Actually, Shaq was pretty good at shooting baskets — he’s currently the eighth highest scorer in NBA history, according to the statistics website Statista.

He’s also making a pretty good point here — and most sane people know it.

The real problem for liberals here is that a certified NBA star has gone off their plantation — again. He did it with the NFL’s national anthem protests; he did it with his opinion of President Donald Trump. Now, he’s doing it on school shootings.

O’Neal is a professional basketball player with a well-known respect for the law. He’s been a reserve police office for Florida in Miami Beach and Golden Beach; for Tempe, Arizona; and for California for the Port of Los Angeles, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

He’s even planning a run for sheriff in Henry County, Georgia, in 2020, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Seeing a successful black athlete who wants to be part of law enforcement probably drives liberals even crazier than O’Neal’s stance on cops in schools.

But he hit this one dead-on.
