Trump Smacks Down Alec Baldwin With Brutal Tweet

Share

President Donald Trump responded Friday to Alec Baldwin’s comments that it was “agony” to portray the president on “Saturday Night Live.”

“Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony,” Trump said in a tweet Friday.

“Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch.” Trump misspelled Baldwin’s first name as “Alex” on second reference in an earlier, now-deleted tweet, which also mistakenly said that Baldwin’s career was “dieing.”

Trump also suggested SNL bring back Darrell Hammond, who portrayed Trump on the sketch comedy show for years before Baldwin took on the task.

“Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!” Trump wrote.

“Every time I (play Trump) now, it’s like agony. Agony. I can’t,” Baldwin told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Thursday.

Baldwin’s agony of playing Trump, whom he may dislike more than he dislikes paparazzi, is apparently not just physical, though he has discussed the pain of contorting his face to pull off his Trump impression.

The actor’s deep resentment to Trump makes the role a challenge mentally.

Do you at all care what Alec Baldwin has to say about Trump?

“I could go out on the street, stand on any corner and tap 10 people on the shoulder. And all 10 of them, in all likelihood, would be more qualified — ethically, morally, intellectually and spiritually — than Trump,” he said.

Baldwin continued that he would go to any length, even voting for a Republican, to get rid of Trump.

“I’ll vote for Mitt Romney. I don’t care. Anybody over this guy. It doesn’t matter. We have to get rid of him.”

If he has to play Trump after the president’s first term, Baldwin suggested that he might leave the country.

“And then if, God forbid, he wins again in 2020, I’m wondering can I host a game show in Spain,” Baldwin said.
