Ex-Harvard Prof. Rips Apart Trump-Hating MSNBC Host on Live TV, Leaves Her Furious

Share

A liberal MSNBC host got so worked up during a live interview discussing President Donald Trump that the guest literally had to ask her to “chill.”

The interview occurred Friday and host Stephanie Ruhle was clearly triggered when former Harvard professor and historian Niall Ferguson kindly asked her to take a deep breathe during her anti-Trump tirade.

As noted by The Daily Caller, Ruhle asked Ferguson if Americans should be concerned that Trump is, in her opinion, lowering the standard of decency for the presidency.

“We’re talking about common decency and disgraceful, repugnant behavior in the highest office in the land,” Ruhle said. “Should we not be concerned about the impact on our culture and our future and the hate rising in this country?”

Ferguson said Trump’s not-so-high approval ratings may sit well with his critics, but emphasized that the president’s style is not a threat to democracy.

While Ruhle and others may believe Trump is a threat to our democracy, Ferguson explained that when Trump says something “indecent,” it’s reflected in the polls.

“Whatever the markets may be saying, opinion polls are telling a pretty clear story, and that’s why I’m not in a state of great panic,” Ferguson said. “I don’t think the United States is descending into tyranny, in fact, the Constitution is doing pretty much what it’s set up to do.”

He reminded Ruhle that her anti-Trump bias and hair-on-fire rhetoric wasn’t a sufficient reason to suggest he poses a threat to our nation.

“The Founding Fathers did not write into the Constitution that the president of the United States had to be a saint…that is not in the Constitution,” he continued.

Do you think Trump is lowering the standard of decency for the presidency?

“Let’s not freak out here. I agree with you that decency is regularly affronted by Donald Trump’s utterances and behavior, but luckily…our Constitution is set up to contain him and prevent this from becoming a tyranny,” he said. “So chill.”

After a pause of a few seconds, Ruhle responded, “no need to tell me to chill, Niall.”

“I’m not freaking out but thank you so much for joining me today,” Ruhle said, visibly triggered. “Condescension not welcome.”

Ferguson’s subtle take-down of Ruhle was perfect, where he crushed her illogical argument that Trump is ringing in tryanny because he says mean things.

Hopefully Ferguson’s history lesson on how the Constitution works will help Ruhle learn how to chill her hateful rhetoric toward Trump.
