Photographer Uses Photo App To Put Teeth onto Babies: 'Can't. Stop. Laughing.'
Professional photographer Amy Haehl, from Shelbyville, Indiana, just released a humorous series of newborn baby photos she has aptly titled, “If Babies Had Teeth.”
Haehl, who owns Coffee Creek Studio, has a passion for taking newborn photos. Formerly an emergency room nurse, Haehl has moved into full-time photography, leaving clients with precious memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
As the FaceApp photo craze began to sweep the country, Haehl decided to give it a whirl on some of her client’s babies’ faces — with their parents’ permission, of course.
“For the ‘babies with teeth’ series, I saw someone post a photo of their child using Faceapp and decided to try it on a few of my photos. When I realized how absolutely hysterical it was I just had to share with my followers!” Haehl told Bored Panda.
She posted the results on her Facebook page, writing, “I decided to have some fun and give babies teeth. HAHAHAHA I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time.”
“I could have gone back and done this to every single baby that has ever come in my studio. Can’t. Stop. Laughing. So, I just thought I’d share and give you all a good laugh too!”
Haehl soon found the photos circulating on social media, with people having a mixed reaction to the photos, ranging from funny to creepy to just plain odd.
Haehl told TODAY that she had hoped the photos would make people smile.
“I just thought it was so funny and would be a great way to put a smile on peoples’ faces — literally!” Haehl told TODAY. “I think people love these photos because they are so different from the way babies normally look and are quite hysterical.”
“I loved having a variety of images in the album … some that were hilarious, but some that you almost wouldn’t notice what is ‘off’ about them at first glance,” Haehl said.
Haehl told Bored Panda that she intentionally places uplifting content on her social media pages as a way to combat the overwhelming amount of negativity seen in our day to day lives.
“I feel like we are all bombarded with negativity and the depressing parts of the world we live in, and I love it when I have the chance to make people laugh and smile and forget all of that for a moment.”
“I felt like these photos were a perfect way to do just that,” she said.
Overall reactions to the photos have been positive, Haehl said, filling her heart with joy that so many people have enjoyed the quirky, humorous series.
