Nearly 3 Years After Death of Beloved Husband, Celine Dion Shares Family Christmas Photo

It’s tempting to think that celebrities face no pangs in their lives, no physical suffering or emotional agony. After all, the glossy magazines and the screen portray them as totally charmed.

But that’s not really the case. They’re people just like we are with all the same woes.

They often have professional, familial and financial troubles. And even they lose loved ones.

That’s true even for superstars like pop diva Céline Dion and her husband René Angélil. Yet in 2016, People magazine reported that her spouse and manager passed away after battling throat cancer.

For Dion, it was a devastating loss. Married to Angélil for two decades, she’d watched him mortgage his house to finance her first album and guide her to superstardom.

“I think I will probably grieve for the rest of my life,” the Canadian singer told The Sun. “Life imposes for you to be sick and you have the option to be strong or not be strong.

“I miss him a lot. For my partner, for the man I was embracing, kissing, making love with.”

Do you have a special way to remember loved ones who have passed away?

But despite the loss, Dion has striven to keep her home happy and family focused. Mere weeks before the anniversary of Angélil’s death, the singer released a photo of herself and her children on Instagram.

The post read, “May your heart and home be filled with warmth, peace and love. Happy Holidays everyone!”

The shot contained Dion herself, as well the couple’s oldest son (17-year-old René-Charles) and their twins (8-year-old Eddy and Nelson). Dion has credited her kids with keeping her grounded.

“The highlight of my day is always being with my children,” Dion told People magazine. She added, “ I got myself a huge, huge, huge bed, and I sleep with my twins.

“They are comforting me a lot. I need them. I need them close.

“When it’s time for them to say they want their room, their room’s ready. But we watch a lot of TV together. I’m discovering Disney.”

Dion also makes sure that they don’t lose their connection to their father. She keeps a picture of Angélil, and the boys say goodnight to it as part of their daily routine.

“We have a little ritual where we say goodnight to him with a little picture,” she said. “Then the kids talk to him. And they write words, put them in balloons and we send the balloons to the sky.”

The singer said that she will always maintain her gratitude toward her late husband. “He taught me so much,” she said.

“He did a great job. What he had been giving to me all his life and all my life will always be with me.”
