Employees Left in Tears, Blown Away When Kind Customer Gifts Them $500 in Tip
Christmas is a time to give back to those that have given to you all year long. From service workers to friends, gifts are appreciated by all this time of year.
For the employees at the Hwy. 55 restaurant in Irmo, South Carolina, it was a gift of pure generosity that blew them away and made their Christmas holiday that much more special, according to WIS-TV.
One of their long-time, regular customers wanted to show his thanks and appreciation for the staff that waited on him every time he came into the restaurant.
So, the man did the one thing that he knew these workers probably needed more than anything.
He left them each a Christmas card, but the real surprise was waiting for them inside.
As each worker opened their Christmas card, they were delighted with a special handwritten note from the man.
In addition, a $100 tip for each of the five restaurant employees was waiting for them inside the card.
The gift was left so innocently on the table as the customer ate his regular meal, paid his bill and departed the restaurant without alerting the employees to the cards.
“When I opened the card, I immediately started to cry,” Taryn Jackson, the Hwy. 55 head manager told WIS-TV.
“When everyone else saw what was in the card, they rushed out to the parking lot to thank him.
“We probably didn’t realize it at the time, but it just shows the impact we can have on others when they come into our store and the relationships we build with our customers over the years,” she added.
The gift will really make a difference to these hardworking staff members as each of them is between the ages of 20 and 23, and they all started working at Hwy. 55 when they were just in high school.
The generous tip was certainly appreciated by the young employees, which include two undergraduate students, a student in graduate school seeking a medical degree and a parent with a 2-year-old son.
The generosity of this kind customer cannot be overlooked as a tip of this proportion hardly goes unnoticed.
The kindness of your actions is recognized, generous stranger, and we hope that it inspires others to get into the giving spirit this time of year.
