Mom Shares Brilliant Home Remedy for Child's Ear Infection

Share

Kids tend to get sick at the most inconvenient of times — usually when you’re on vacation or during the middle of the night when the last thing you want to do is run to the 24-hour pharmacy.

Isn’t this always the way it goes? Thankfully we have the internet — a place chock-full of home remedies requiring just a few common household items.

All veteran parents have a few tricks up their sleeves, but it’s always great to learn new tricks and hacks, too.

One mom has shared her secret earache remedy with the world and it’s gone viral. Echo Featherstone calls herself the “parenting practitioner.”

If her genius earache idea works, she just might be right. A viral post she shared on Facebook shows a sleeping boy with a mug to his ear.

Odd, right? Well just wait until you hear what’s inside the mug. “What I’m about to share with you, is a coveted family secret… I use this all the time,” she wrote.

She goes on to pose a question — “Your child ever wake up screaming in pain of an ear infection?” she asks.

All parents have been there. Like Featherstone says, “It takes 30 minutes for pain meds to kick in.” But fear not, an immediate remedy awaits at your fingertips.

Do you have a home remedy for an ear infection?

The mom goes on to list step-by-step instructions for soothing ear pain fast. Basically, you place a hot wet cloth inside a warm mug and press it to your child’s ear.

Take a look at her post for more in-depth details. This is amazing! Next time one of my kiddos has an ear infection, this will be the first thing I try.

It seems to be the warmth that does the trick on this one. Other mommy bloggers have shared similar tricks. Wunder Mom recommends a warm, rice-filled sock to the ear — a.k.a. a homemade heating pad.

Gwen’s Nest suggests half a warm onion. There are plenty of other ideas like this out there too. All you have to do is look.
