Man Hides Camera Inside Engagement Ring Box, Documents Entire Day and Moment He Proposes

Kyle Lawson from DePere, Wisconsin, wanted to make his proposal to his girlfriend of six months, Stef Bunday, 27, unique, according to ABC News.

Lawson, 26, had picked out the engagement ring and was ready to pop the question. But he wanted to add a twist.

So, he inserted his GoPro into the ring box, not only so could he record Bunday’s reaction to the proposal, but to capture all the events leading up to it.

“Since her family lives in Colorado, I knew I wanted some way to document it a little bit and Stef and I, whenever we have exciting news or an announcement to share, we like to do something unique,” Lawson told ABC News. “Somehow, I thought, maybe I could make a custom ring box and put the GoPro in there.

“I thought, maybe I should put together a ‘day in the life with the ring’ so we would have a fun way to tell friends and family the exciting news,” he said. “I really wanted to show her how ridiculously nervous I was the whole day.”

Lawson started his recording the night before, telling Bunday how excited he was to marry her.

Finally, he went to sleep, only to pop open the box and begin recording again the very next morning.

With 10 hours remaining until the main event, Lawson videoed his ride to work, telling Bunday how nervous he was but how ready he was to hear her response.

Lawson made it through the longest day of work in his entire life, stopped for a drink to calm his nerves and then made his way to the proposal venue.

Finally, it was time to ask Bunday for her hand in marriage. He told her that he was presenting his photography at an art exhibition at the Neville Public Museum of Brown County, Wisconsin, to get her to meet him there that day.

“I didn’t want her to know a proposal was happening,” he told ABC News. “I told her that I was contacted by the museum to feature my work and for me to come in and present it to them. So, Stef thought she was coming to watch me.”

While at the museum, he opened the box and the GoPro began to record. It captured Bunday’s tearful response to his question of “Will you marry me?”

And, of course, she said “Yes!” And to her surprise, every single moment of her proposal was documented on camera.

“I was completely blindsided. I had no idea there was a camera in the box,” Bunday told ABC News. “As far as him going above and beyond, he goes above and beyond every day in our relationship.

“He’s the sweetest guy I’ve ever met,” she added.

Lawson put the video on Facebook, and it went viral in an instant.

“I just put it on YouTube so that it was easy to share on Facebook,” Lawson told ABC News.

“We both are blown away by the attention it’s gotten. She was bawling and she said yes right away. I remember her getting weak in the legs. We were hugging and I was physically holding her up.”

Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish you well and know you’ll have many more special moments just like this in your future.
