Bindi Shares Adorable Home Video To Honor Dad on 'Steve Irwin Day'
November 15 is a special day for Steve Irwin’s family and fans — it’s the day that the Australia Zoo sets aside to celebrate the life and legacy of the late crocodile hunter.
“Steve Irwin Day is also a day where people around the world join together to raise money for Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors to help continue Steve’s conservation work and the preservation of wildlife and wild places,” the zoo wrote on their website.
Many fun events are planned, including Steve’s daughter, Bindi, feeding the crocodiles at the zoo and a live concert with Australian musician, Adam Brand.
Before passing away after a tragic event with a stingray, Steve expressed that the only thing that would make him step down from advocating for wildlife conservation and protection would be when his two children, Bindi and Robert, were old enough and ready to run the race themselves.
In February of 2018, Bindi shared an emotional interview where her father discussed his hopes for his children.
She wrote, “I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever.”
And that’s exactly what she and the rest of the family are doing with their new show, “Crikey! It’s the Irwins” on Animal Planet.
The show features Terri, Steve’s wife, as well as both Bindi and Robert.
“I hope he’d be proud of us and I hope he’d be happy to see all the wonderful turtle releases we’ve done,” Bindi said on the show after releasing a beautiful sea turtle.
While continuing to honor his legacy through the new show and advocating for animals, Bindi didn’t miss the opportunity to remember her dad on social media on Steve Irwin Day.
She shared a heartwarming video of her father feeding her when she was just a baby.
In typical, quirky, Steve Irwin fashion, he began comparing his daughter to a baby bird and showing her exactly how baby birds would open their mouths wide to get food from their mom.
“November 15, Steve Irwin Day. Celebrating the greatest Wildlife Warrior and best Dad in the world, ❤️” she wrote.

This little glimpse of Steve having a sweet father-daughter moment with Bindi is a perfect reminder that not only was he an incredible advocate and wildlife lover, but he was also an incredible father who instilled his love for animals in his children.
It’s that love we now get to watch unfold on their new show and through other events like Steve Irwin Day. Steve, you are greatly missed, not only by your family but also by millions around the world.
