Elderly Woman Tells Us Exactly Why We Need To Pray & Stop Limiting God
Abraham Lincoln is credited with saying, “I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go.”
When I was a little girl, I remember very distinctly a particular billboard off to the side of our regularly frequented freeway.
“Prayer Changes Things,” the giant orange eyesore read. Below the words, Philippians 4:6-7 was referenced, a passage that says “present your requests to God.”
As a child, I didn’t completely grasp what the sign meant. As an adult, I still struggle with understanding the full weight of those words.
One woman has taken the internet by storm with her viral video. Her daughter, Jennifer Walker Smith, shared the video on her Facebook page.
In one week, the video already has over 3.5 million views. When you hear what this sweet elderly lady has to say, you’ll see why.
“We’ve all had the experience some time that seems like God is so far away,” she begins. “And maybe he’s not listening. Nothing happens. He’s so quiet, and we wonder, ‘Does it matter that I pray?'”
Aren’t her words so relatable? For any praying person, I think we’ve all been there. Feeling as if we’re putting our words out there only to have them fall on deaf ears.
But this woman has a different perspective to offer that is truly eyeopening. She notes it’s “pathetic” to wonder, “Can God take care of this?”
Then she turns to Psalm 78, a passage that touches on limiting God. “I have written at the top of my Bible, ‘Esther, do not limit God,'” she explains.
“Do you know who he is? Do you know who you’re talking to?” Profound words. And wait until you hear what else she has to say on the matter.
Her words certainly struck a chord with me. It can be easy to wonder if God is listening. To doubt that he can still perform miracles as he did during Biblical times.
