Security Camera Captures Moment Elephant Thrash Through Water To Save Baby Who Fell In

Share

Elephants are majestic creatures. They simply win your heart with their large stature, bravery and smarts.

They are known to be some of the smartest creatures in the world with analytical thinking and what can almost be described as street smarts, especially in this instance.

In an effort to survive, elephants take care of their young much like humans. Two adult elephants at South Korea’s Seoul Grand Park Zoo provide the perfect example of this.

An elephant calf was having just another day in its habitat, basking in the sun and exploring as young ones do.

In the blink of an eye, the young elephant slipped and fell into a play pond located within their zoo play area, according to news.com.au.

The youngster struggled to get out of the pond that was deeper than he could possibly stand in. He thrashed about with little to no possibility of making it out.

With his head ducking under the water for several minutes and showing signs of helplessness, his fellow elephant friends teamed up to help.

The two adult elephants showed amazing calmness and seemed to almost instantly form a plan to save the young elephant from an unthinkable fate.

Do you think elephants are the most majestic creatures of the animal kingdom?

They were unable to reach the baby with their trunks, so they rushed into the water and corralled the young one in the pond.

Then they used their smarts to maneuver him around the pond’s edge to safety, using their trunks almost as a flotation device.

The adult elephants helped the calf to reach the shallower part of the water, where he was able to stand and walk his way to safety.

These elephants demonstrated the immense kindness and motherly instincts that these creatures have.
