106-Year-Old Adrenaline Junkie Just Set 3rd World Record
Birthdays are special times of year for people fortunate enough to have good family and friends. There are traditions to uphold in many families, where each year the person is subject to the same quirky or fun kinds of experiences.
Going out for dinner is probably one of the most common ways to celebrate. The older you get, the more you treasure the time spent with family and friends.
But sometimes a person will come along who wants more. Someone who is young at heart, creative and thrill-seeking. Dinner with the family may be nice, but it’s not quite their celebratory cup of tea.
Meet Jack Reynolds of Chesterfield, UK. He’s created his own sort of birthday tradition that is certainly one-of-a-kind: He breaks records.
Not only is his current age (106) record-breaking in its own right, but for the past three birthdays he’s tackled three extraordinary feats and has proven to himself and the world that he’s still fit and far from boring.
For his 104th birthday, Reynolds got a tattoo. “Jacko 6.4.1912” was the message he had inscribed on his arm — an appropriate tattoo for a birthday. And with that birthday present to himself, he set a new record: “Oldest person to get their first tattoo.”
“He initially joked about getting it on his bottom,” his daughter Jayne Goodwin tattled, “but then wasn’t too keen on having to get out his bum to show people.”
“I’d rather be doing this than getting a haircut,” he said, according to Guinness World Records. But he didn’t only break a record and get his first tattoo. He used his challenge to raise money for hospice patients, also proving in the process that he’s brave and kind.
For 105 he was at it again, this time going after (and of course, receiving) the title of “Oldest person to ride a non-inversion roller coaster.”
“It were okay,” he stated after the first ride. “I’m going for another ride in a minute!”

This year was no different. Year 106 brought Reynolds his third record-breaking title: “Oldest person to ride a zip line.”
“It was perfect. Bit different but it’s been better,” he said cheerily. “It’s been a really good day, been worth coming for.”

“This is the third birthday I’ve spent with you and this is the most impressive yet,” said Mark McKinley, the GWR representative. “You never fail to impress.”
“I’m really proud of him,” his daughter said, as reported by Guinness World Records. “He’s my superhero.”
