Dad Catches Toddler Split Second Before Tragedy After Son Falls Out of Crib
Kids grow up fast. Before we know it they’re out of the bassinet and sleeping in their own crib. Then you blink and they move on to a toddler bed and beyond.
It can be hard for parents to gauge when to graduate their infant or toddler to the next level when it comes to sleeping arrangements.
According to Baby Center, deciding when to do away with the crib isn’t an exact science and many factors play a role when it comes to this milestone decision.
One of the biggest things to watch for is whether or not the child has begun to climb out of the crib. If little Jack or Jill has started to treat the crib bars more like monkey bars, then that’s probably a sign they’re ready for a big kid bed.
The University of Rochester Medical Center says parents should take note of their child’s height. Thirty-five inches or taller may indicate readiness to step up.
“Most move to a bed by age 2,” URMC says. When the toddler is “able to pull themselves up and over the crib rail” and “can put their leg on or over the top rail, even if they haven’t yet climbed over,” it may be time for a transition.
A viral video of a 2-year-old plunging from his crib to the floor serves as a good reminder for parents who may be wondering if their child is big enough to leave the crib behind.

“Oh, my gosh, Noah!” you can hear Nicholas say in the video. It’s easy to catch the fear and worry in this dad’s voice.
“I’ve never made a rescue like that before, and honestly I don’t know if I ever want to make another one again,” Nicholas told Inside Edition.
It was a quick save and probably a red flag for the Lynch family. I wouldn’t be surprised if this dad went out the very same day and purchased a toddler bed for his son.
Thankfully the boy is okay and he has his amazing dad watching out for him, always ready to keep him safe.
