Baby Has Heartwarming Reaction Moment He Sees His Daddy Military Doll

Share

Military parents probably have it the toughest of all. They work to protect and serve our country, but in return they give up time with their loved ones.

When a mom or dad is deployed, I imagine it must be extremely difficult to miss out on family memories.

First steps, first words and first days of school get missed when you’re away overseas. Thankfully, we have modern technology that at least allows us to communicate across long distances better than ever before.

Video messages and outlets like Skype or Google Hangouts allow us to see our loved ones when they’re far away.

It still doesn’t make up for the distance, but it definitely eases the ache. One company wanted to take easing the ache a step further with the creation of “Daddy Dolls.”

Daddy Dolls was established in 2005 by moms who knew exactly what it was like when dad was away.

“We wanted to find some way to make the separation easier for our sons and daughters while keeping their fathers close to their hearts and in their prayers,” the company’s website says.

After watching firsthand what a difference “Daddy Dolls” made for their own children, these moms set out to give other children the same experience.

If it doesn’t sound like a doll that looks like dad would make much of an impact, just wait until you see the reaction of a sweet little boy named Nathan.

He’s only 5 months old, and his dad, Army Sgt. Chase Briscoe, has been deployed since Nathan was 3 months old.

He’s so young, you’d think he wouldn’t remember or recognize his daddy at all. But when his mom, Deanna Briscoe, gave her son a “Daddy Doll,” it was clear that little Nathan knew exactly who his dad was.

Watch as his very own “Daddy Doll” is placed right before his eyes. I could watch this again and again. His excitement is priceless.

It’s too much! What a sweetheart! And what a great idea to keep children connected to a dad who is on deployment.

“I saw there was an option to put a voice in it, and I decided to do that because any time my husband can call us, Nathan goes crazy over it,” Deanna told CBS News.

She also shared in an interview with Inside Edition that “the doll has really really helped … as soon as Chase left, Nathan just stopped sleeping … we tried absolutely everything …”

It wasn’t until Deanna gave her son the “Daddy Doll” that Nathan started to do better. He will be a year old when his father returns.

Deanna shared it’s important to her that their son recognizes his dad at his homecoming. I hope she records and shares Nathan’s reaction that day as well.

Until then, it’s a good thing he has his “Daddy Doll” to comfort him while his father is away. What a sweetheart!
