Little Chinese Girl Learns English Just To Tell Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson 'I Love You'
July 13 is an important date for actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with the release of his latest action-thriller film, “Skyscraper.”
The film promises drama, intrigue and probably plenty of camera angels featuring terrifying heights that will raise our collective blood pressures sky-high.
The Skyscraper cast has spent the last weeks and months promoting the film, which included a visit to Beijing.
Johnson’s athlete-turned actor face is familiar to Chinese audiences, according to China Daily.
Chinese audiences have already seen and loved Johnson on the big screen twice this year, first with, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” and then in April, the movie “Rampage.”
So it’s safe to say Johnson has quite the following in Beijing. During a recent press conference in Beijing, Johnson had the chance to meet several children on stage — who had all been practicing their English so they could speak to the superstar.
One little girl, dressed in a firefighter costume complete with a shiny red hat, had prepared four important words for The Rock.
Leaning into the mic, she adorably said, “I love you, Johnson!”
The actor adored the moment, a huge smile lighting up his face as the audience burst into laughter. The crowd erupted yet again when a little boy spoke into the mic next, saying simply, “Hello!”
Sharing the sweet moment on Facebook, Johnson explained a little about the film’s goals, and what the film might mean for Chinese people.
“The goal with Skyscraper was always to make a cross-cultural film that properly represented the Chinese people and culture,” Johnson wrote.
“And represent properly our film’s anchor — a mixed race family doing all they can to survive and STAY TOGETHER.”
Johnson went on to praise the kids for perfecting their English and having the courage to speak a foreign language in front of such a large crowd.
“And a huge thank you to the ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL who practiced a long time on her english (sic) so she could say, ‘I love you Johnson!’ to me in person in front of a huge press conference,” Johnson wrote.
The actor joked that he’d be happy to play the role of a fun-loving uncle in exchange for compliments.
“Luv U back sweetheart, and Uncle DJ will continue to bribe you and all kids with cookies, cakes and toys so you’ll always say nice things,” he wrote.
