Owner Interview: Mailman Leaves Hilarious Note for Owners of Naughty Dogs Who Stole His Lunch

Share

Dogs, like people, have various motivators. To really understand and be able to work with a dog, you have to know what drives them.

Some dogs love toys, chasing balls, and catching frisbees. To them, a reward is getting to play — it is their greatest joy in life.

Other dogs are absolute chow hounds. They will do anything, including running through their entire repertoire of tricks without you asking, just for the chance to sample what you’ve got on your plate.

Bear and Bull, two Labrador/mastiff mixes, are in that second category. But like the lumbering goofs they are, they didn’t ask to try something, they just took it.

Carol Jordan, the owner of the two large, black dogs, came home one day to an odd message in her mailbox. It was from her mail carrier, Mary.

“Hey!” the note started. “I drove up to deliver a package, and both of the dogs crawled into my truck. They got into my lunch and ate an egg and some carrots and some pumpkin seeds. I don’t know if that will upset their tummies, just FYI.”

The little smiley face at the end combined with the overall tone of the note suggested that the mailwoman wasn’t upset, just concerned for the dogs’ health.

A few vegetables and an egg weren’t going to hurt them, but Jordan saw a golden opportunity to write a note back from the dog’s perspectives.

Inside, “Bear and Bull” dashed off a short message: “Sorry we ate your lunch 🙁 Thank you for sharing! P.S. Our humans said thank you for leaving a note. We didn’t like the note, we got in trouble :(“

Included in the note was a Subway gift card to make up for the lunch the two goofs had gobbled.

Jordan posted the story and photos of the notes and guilty parties on Facebook, and it wasn’t long before people all over the world were chuckling at her pups’ antics.

She was even interviewed and showed off her lovable hounds.
