For the 2nd Time in 9 Years, Sisters Give Birth on Same Day, at Nearly Same Time
If you’re female and have a very close female friend, the term “like sisters” is often thrown around.
Sisters are often lifelong friends — they know everything about each other and still love each other despite knowing about things like the awkward teen years and poor dating choices.
But despite all the shared experiences sisters boast, having overlapping pregnancies is not always guaranteed.
Having babies at almost the same time, on the same day? A miracle. Experiencing this phenomenon twice? Something must be in the water!
But that’s exactly what sisters Mara Meighan and Jennifer Solis of Phenix City, Alabama, have experienced. They’ve had the unique blessing of having their children on the same day twice — nine years apart, but still, the odds are astounding.
When they first discovered they were pregnant the second time around, their announcements were within about a week of each other.
“I found out I was pregnant and then, she found out like a week and a half later,” Solis said. “It was a surprise to everyone.”
The possibility of having their babies on the same day again probably occurred to them, but really, how often does that kind of thing happen twice in a row?
The experience has been a bonding one, despite the fact that this had happened nine years ago. The two mothers even had rooms next to each other at Piedmont Columbus Regional, where they gave birth.
“It has brought us way closer than we were before,” Meighan said.
Their children have a built-in closeness as well — how often is it that you share the same birthday and year as your cousin?
Meighan had a girl, named Ana Grace, and Solis had a boy that she named Marco. The hospital posted the story on Facebook and said that both babies are doing well.
Solis wouldn’t mind trying for round three, but Meighan isn’t convinced. “I want a girl, but she’s done!” Solis said.
