Prince Charles Biography Reveals What Queen Said about Camilla after Having a Few Drinks
A new unauthorized biography about Prince Charles came out on March 22nd, and the exposé is certainly turning heads.
The book by Tom Bower has arrived just in time for the royal wedding, stirring up a bit more drama for the royals as all eyes are on them in the coming months.
Titled “Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles,” the contents of the book are rumored to be surprising.
One of the biggest pieces of the story involves the Prince of Wales’ affair and relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, and what Queen Elizabeth II thought of it all.
The relationship, which lasted decades and through both of their first marriages, was “unforgivable” to the Queen.
Charles and his mother fought one another constantly on the issue, leading up to a heated discussion in 1995, after his separation from Princess Diana but one year before their official divorce.
Queen Elizabeth could not forgive Charles and Camilla for their brazen adultery or the contents of the inappropriate 1989 “Camillagate” public recording of a conversation between the two.
The prince requested his mother not interfere in his relationship with Camilla, but it was clear the Queen would not be told what to do.
Together in the sitting room at the Balmoral estate, Queen Elizabeth let Charles know exactly how she felt about Camilla.
After “several martinis,” the Queen told Charles she wanted absolutely “nothing to do with” that “wicked woman.”
The Queen is said to have “punished” Charles in the following years by sending him to live in a “lesser” palace, St. James’ Palace, instead of Clarence House.
Before the Queen allowed them to marry in 2005, Charles fired back by inviting Camilla to events and switching around seating charts without the Queen’s knowledge. He was reported to have said, “While Ma’am is away, the mice will play,” about the Queen at one of the events.
Besides a focused look into Charles’ life, Bower’s explosive, unauthorized exposé is filled with plenty behind-the-scenes looks into the royal family that fans just can’t get enough of.
