Ex-NFL and Arkansas Star McFadden Arrested in Drive-Thru Lane

You know your life has taken a wrong turn when you’re picked up for drunken driving in a fast-food drive-thru.

That’s what happened to former Arkansas Razorbacks star and NFL running back Darren McFadden early Monday morning at a Whataburger.

The 31-year-old McFadden was found asleep at the wheel of a GMC Yukon at one of the Texas-based burger chain’s locations in McKinney, according to TMZ Sports.

He resisted the officers who arrived on the scene, according to police.

“Sources tell us McFadden’s driver’s side and passenger windows were smashed during the incident,” TMZ reported.

McFadden was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest and was taken into custody in Collin County.

He was released a short time later.

McFadden was a standout at Arkansas, running for 4,590 yards and 41 touchdowns in three NCAA seasons.

He was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2007 and 2006 and became only the second person ever to win the Doak Walker Award twice.

The university congratulated him earlier this month for being named to the College Football Hall of Fame.

McFadden was selected fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 2008 draft. After an up-and-down seven years with the team, he finished his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

He announced his retirement in November 2017.

McFadden rushed for a total of 5,421 yards and 28 touchdowns in his 10 years in the NFL.
