Miss Universe reveals how she met new boyfriend, Tim Tebow

Share

Tim Tebow made waves across media when he revealed that he was officially off the dating market.

Rumors linking Tebow to the reigning Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, had been swirling for a while, due in no small part to social media posts from Tebow’s family. But nothing had been confirmed.

That changed last week when Tebow confirmed that he was, in fact, in a relationship with Nel-Peters.

“She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life,” Tebow told ESPN.

He seemed genuinely happy about it, even going so far as to divulge a bit of his private life to the public.

“I am usually very private with these things, but I am very thankful,” he added.

One curious tidbit about Tebow’s revelation was that Nel-Peters had remained completely mum on the topic. Her 1.1 million Instagram followers were left in the dark about her relationship status.

Well, that’s no longer the case. Nel-Peters all but confirmed the relationship during an interview with South African radio station 947‘s Breakfast club. She was visiting her native South Africa to celebrate centenary celebrations honoring Nelson Mandela.

“There’s somebody. (Radio host) Anele, I’m sure you will definitely approve of him. He’s very special and just such a big blessing in my life. He’s currently a baseball player and a former NFL player. Look at all those titles I just dropped. I’m very proud,” Nel-Peters said via South Africa’s TimeLIVE.

Will Tim Tebow ever play baseball in the major leagues?

Of note, Nel-Peters never actually name drops Tebow. But a current basebally player who’s a former NFL player? That’s not exactly subtle.

Even without knowing much about their personal lives, Nel-Peters and Tebow already have a lot in common.

Neither were born in America, both went on to succeed at the highest levels of their respective professions and both engage in endless philanthropic work.

Considering that, it should be little surprise of how the two actually met. Nel-Peters divulged the touching details on how the two’s romance initially sparked.

“I don’t know if you know, but I have a half sister who was born with a disability and his foundation works very closely with children with disabilities,” Nel-Peters said. “They have an event each year called ‘Night To Shine‘ and they host them each year in churches in different countries and he invited me and my family. We started talking and we kinda haven’t stopped.”

Of course Tebow met someone through his incredible charity work. A Hollywood script couldn’t have come up with a more fitting meeting.

And it couldn’t have happened to a better guy than Tebow.
