Romo wins celebrity golf tournament, Charles Barkley dead last
Tony Romo is on a roll.
Last week he won an amateur golf tournament in his native Wisconsin, and this past weekend he won the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe, California.
Romo, who had never won the event, defeated three-time defending champion Mark Mulder, who pitched for A’s and Cardinals in his nine-year MLB career.
In the Stableford scoring system — which awards points for pars, birdies, eagles, etc. — Romo birdied three of the last five holes to overtake Mulder, who bogeyed and double bogeyed two of the last three holes. Romo finished with 71 points while Mulder had 68.

“It’s a special win,” said Romo, according to CBS Sports. “It feels like you’re playing a tournament back home here. The day felt good for a lot of reasons.”
The event was played at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on Lake Tahoe.
Romo donated his $125,000 prize check to various local charities, including the Stowers Institute for Medical Research.
Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks, also a Wisconsin native, and former NBA great Ray Allen tied for 3rd.
Former quarterback Trent Dilfer and tennis player Mardy Fish tied for 5th. Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry finished tied for 11th.
Curry had 50 points, while his dad, Dell Curry, had 32 points and finished in a tie for 37th place. Curry had bet his dad that he would beat him by 20 points, but he fell short and had to jump into the lake.

Out of 91 competitors, NBA great and basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley finished dead last, which comes to no surprise to anyone who has seen him swing.

He even tried a one-handed swing.

As for Romo, he hopes to continue his hot streak this week when he competes Monday in a 36-hole U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament in Berlin, Wisconsin.
