Six-time medal-winning U.S. Olympic skier Bode Miller is in mourning after his 19-month-old daughter died Sunday.

Emeline Grier Miller drowned in a pool over the weekend in Southern California. Paramedics rushed to the scene but could not revive her, and she died Sunday at an Orange County hospital, per ESPN.

On Monday, her father posted several photos and one video of his little girl to Instagram.

“We are beyond devastated,” Miller wrote in the heartbreaking post. “Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday.”

Emeline’s death was under investigation, according to Orange County sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun.

Capt. Tony Bommarito of the Orange County Fire Authority told ESPN that paramedics were called to a home in Coto de Caza at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

After unsuccessfully attempting to perform CPR on Emeline, they rushed her to the emergency room.

“They had no pulses the whole way,” Bommarito said. “It didn’t end well.”

In the wake of Emeline’s tragic death, the skiing world has come together to mourn.

“It is with the utmost sadness that we learned today of the passing of @MillerBode‘s daughter Emmy. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at U.S. Ski & Snowboard and across the whole snowsports world are with Bode, his wife Morgan and their family at this time,” the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team tweeted.

Professional skiers Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso also sent their condolences.

Miller, 40, is the most decorated male U.S. skier in history, per ESPN. He has racked up 33 World Cup wins, four world championships and six Olympic medals, including one gold.
