80-Year-Old Man's Older Brother Comes to Rescue After Robber Holds Him at Gunpoint
Older brothers have your back. You might not know it from the way they often hassle their younger siblings during grade school years — but if anyone else tries to start trouble, watch out.
It’s an incomparable bond that frequently endures for a lifetime. At the very first sign of danger or distress, a dedicated older brother will come running.
That’s exactly what happened in a recent YouTube video. Surveillance footage picked up a scary robbery attempt and the way it was shut down in no uncertain terms.
The footage is already going viral across social media. Maybe that’s because the elderly victim was 80 years of age — and the hero was, of all people, his 85-year-old brother.
According to reports, the victim was strolling through the parking lot of a local business on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. He walked gingerly with a cane, just behind another man in a light grey hoodie.
Suddenly, in clear sight of the surveillance camera, the man in the hoodie snapped around and brandished a gun.
The targeted octogenarian, who asked not to be identified, told local CBS news affiliate WXIN that he was candid with his would-be mugger.
“Man, I ain’t got no money,” he said, according to news reports. Then he poignantly added, “I just got out of the hospital.”
Video footage shows the suspect cruelly rummaging through the man’s pockets to extract valuables nonetheless. The victim said he began hollering for help — and that’s when his spry older brother assertively answered the call.
The agile 85-year-old sprinted over, apparently swinging a wrench from his own car. “He hit him on the head with that wrench,” noted the grateful victim.
This surprise show of force caused the crook to drop the paltry three dollars he’d swiped from the victim’s pocket. The stunned mugger then turned tail and sprinted away, still clutching his gun.
Fortunately, nobody wound up getting hurt. But all of social media is getting a decently good look at the assailant.
They’re also applauding the 85-year-old brother who demonstrated such nimble quick thinking. Clearly, his little brother is pretty fortunate to have such a fearless, feisty, faithful protector around.
