Did a 2016 Outlandish Hate Claim from Ilhan Omar Help Do Her In? Incident Reports Seems to Confirm She Lied About Divorce
If and when Rep. Ilhan Omar gets ousted for her immigration shenanigans — and it’s looking more and more like when by the day — there’ll always be the question of whether her tracks could have been covered better.
And, if it were at all possible to avoid this — which it might not have been, given the volume of evidence that’s been uncovered — her downfall may have begun before she became a member of Congress.
Indeed, it may have started with a dubious hate claim all the way back in 2016.
So, for those of you showing up late to the story, things have moved quickly in the two weeks since an Oct. 12 raid on Rep. Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence.
The Minnesota Democrat and founding member of the so-called “Squad” apparently isn’t even named Ilhan Omar, according to federal authorities, and she very likely married her brother in an attempt to win him U.S. citizenship.
Whether any of this is prosecutable remains to be seen, although if she’s persisted in using a fake name and birthdate on documents, it would reset the statute of limitations for some of these matters.
But the substance of a lot of the background was available for years, if only you knew where to look for it.
It began all the way back in 2016, when, on a trip to Washington, Omar filed a complaint alleging that the cab driver made derogatory comments toward her and her sister.
From The Minneapolis Star Tribune on Dec. 17, 2016, when Omar was a state representative-elect:
On the drive to the hotel, Omar said the driver took an unfamiliar route, prompting her to look up directions on her phone, according to the complaint. “I leaned over and made a suggestion about the best route,” she wrote. “‘You shut up!’” Omar said the driver responded.

Once they arrived at her destination, she said the driver said “Get out of my (expletive) car!” Omar said she insisted on paying and handed him a payment card.
“As we rushed to grab our belongings he continued to shout at us and he spoke negatively of my dress because we were covered as Muslim women,” Omar wrote. “He said ‘I should take off that thing on your head and see what you have underneath, you ‘ISIS.’” …
Omar, the country’s first Somali-American state legislator, said in a post on Facebook and Twitter last week she and her sister endured harassment by a D.C. cabdriver who called her “ISIS” and threatened to remove her hijab.
Let’s look beyond the fact that this sounds dubious, although it certainly does. More importantly for the present, this incident took place on the same day that a prominent Somali-American in the Washington area posted that he had dined with “Representative-Elect Ilhan Omar & her lovely sis Leila Elmi,” according to the blog Power Line.
The name is rather important. As The Daily Wire pointed out, Somali naming conventions would mean that both her sister and her brother would have names ending in Nur Said Elmi.
Her second husband, the man who is rumored to be her brother, is named Ahmed Elmi. And not only does her sister have the last name Elmi, but she apparently raised Ahmed Elmi when he lived in London.
We fast forward to May of 2017, again while Omar was a state representative. She said in divorce papers obtained by the Washington Examiner that she didn’t know where her husband was and had been unable to contact him. Thus, she required a divorce without the other party’s presence.
Then, in an Aug. 2, 2017, affidavit, she said of Ahmed Elmi that “names and locations of other persons who are likely to know the respondent’s whereabouts are: Unknown to me,” ” names and locations of respondent’s parents, siblings, children and other close relatives are as follows: Unknown,” and that she “looked for [him] on social media,” according to the Daily Signal. She also said she hadn’t seen her husband in six years.
The problem with this? Apparently, she had been photographed with him in London in 2015, along with other close relatives that she said she couldn’t find:
Hey @Ilhan, remember when you lied to a divorce judge in 2017 saying the reason for the divorce was you “hadn’t seen your husband” aka brother in “6 years” and yet here you both are in London 2015 together with your husband (brother) ?
And the Instagram post was deleted.
Weird. Right ??
Also, turning off your comments is a nice touch. It really screams innocence 👌

That’s quite the problem, in other words. And that isn’t even counting the cab ride back in Washington, D.C., where she’d been riding with the woman who apparently raised him.
Also in 2016, while Omar’s star was on the rise, Alpha News — a conservative-leaning Minnesota news outlet — managed to get ahold of Ahmed Elmi in London.
His response? He said there was “no way am I affiliated with anyone in your articles. Nor do I recall being married to anyone. At least, from what I remember.” That’s one bad memory.
Oh, and the icing on the cake: The fact that Ahmed Elmi referred to Omar’s children — who were born while he was legally married to her — as his “nieces” in a social media post.
More PROOF Ilhan Omar married her BROTHER.
One day after Ilhan Omar gave birth in 2012 her then HUSBAND at the time called the baby his NIECE on Instagram .
So, Ilhan Omar’s brother/husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, called Ilhan Omar’s daughter his NIECE.
Then Ilhan Omar LIKED it.
They weren’t even trying to HIDE it because they thought no one would DARE ever question her.

So basically, this means a number of things.
First, if not perhaps foremost, Omar’s name probably isn’t Omar, especially since her father’s real name is Nur Said Elmi Mohamed. Nur Omar Mohamed is only the name he gave U.S. immigration officials.
That means “Ilhan Omar” is effectively a name of convenience; it’s never been the actual name of the representative from Minnesota.
Second, it’s almost certain that Omar’s marriage to Elmi, if it’s not a case of marrying her brother, is at least a case of immigration fraud.

Third, and most importantly, Omar has consistently lied about both of these things. She’s lied about the identity of her sister, her relationship to Ahmed Elmi, whether or not she’s seen him, even her name, and in a separate matter, possibly even her birthdate — all of it, lies.
What’s more, these are lies that are on official legal documents, which means that they’re lies which, if perpetuated for as long as Omar has perpetuated them, almost certainly mean a chargeable crime of some sort.
These are early days in the investigation into the bravo sierra artist formerly known as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.
With that being said, there’s no good explanation for all these facts, and Omar hasn’t bothered to offer even the smallest defense, other than some variation on “Trump done did it!”
What’s amazing is that all of this discordance could have been, and should have been, discovered by legacy media eons ago.
Since they weren’t willing to look into it, it’s fun to see the whole thing unravel based in large part on a dodgy, Jussie Smollett-esque hate crime claim Omar made before she was even a U.S. representative.
